GUELPH, ONTARIO (April 15, 2025) – Ontario Pork is pleased to announce that Tara Terpstra, a pork producer from Huron County, has been acclaimed as Chair of the Board for a second consecutive year. Joining her in leadership is newly elected Vice Chair TJ Murray, a producer from Oxford County.
Both Terpstra and Murray bring extensive on-farm experience and a deep commitment to advancing Ontario’s pork sector. “We want to continue strengthening collaborations developed last year, – this is crucial for making our voice heard,” said Terpstra. “Serving as Chair offers a unique chance to advance the needs of pork producers. As part of this effort, the Board has begun developing a new strategic plan—shaped by input from last year’s policy day—to set clear priorities and ensure we continue delivering strong value to our members.”
TJ Murray, who now serves as Vice Chair, works full-time on his family’s pig farm in Oxford County. In addition to his on-farm responsibilities, he actively gives back to his community as a volunteer firefighter. Murray brings a strong interest in business risk management and is committed to encouraging the next generation of producers to get involved and help shape the future of the industry.
The Ontario Pork Board also welcomes two new directors: Cassandra Van Engelen, elected as a board member at-large, and Charlie Illick, representing Zone 3.
They join other board members including Bruce Hudson, Karen Sanders, Tanya Terpstra, Philip Van Raay, and Jolanda Vandenbroek.
We extend our sincere thanks to Eric Schwindt and Arno Schober, who have retired from the Ontario Pork Board. Their years of dedicated service and leadership have contributed significantly to the organization’s success. We wish them all the best in their future endeavors.
